Gum diseases are often very persistent. This is due to the variety of possible causes. Very often a colonization of the gum pockets with bacteria that make the gums ill can be found.
In addition to the possibility of a germ detection and the taking of antibiotics (bacteria killing medication), one can also reduce the germs with a special laser application, acupuncture supports the immune and self-healing powers.
The photodynamic disinfection of the gum pockets (PDT) is an elegant possibility to influence the germs directly in the area of the gum pockets. Work is carried out at the site of the problem and the treatment is usually painless.
The bacteria are stained with a special dye and then exposed with a laser specially developed for this method. Unlike conventional laser applications, no tissue is cut off, boiled, carbonized or similar.
Therefore, there is usually no pain, teeth strengthen again after a short time.
With this procedure there are currently no known resistances (bacteria that do not react), nor allergies known.
Photodynamic pocket disinfection (PDT) can also be repeated as often as desired, which unfortunately cannot be said of antibiotics.
This method can also be used to treat oral mucous membrane changes (e.g. aphthae).
